Jason M. Winn

Jason Winn is director for The Fat Boy Chronicles, a movie adapted from a teen novel now in bookstores. The story is a heartwarming, funny, and sometimes heartbreaking, realistic view of high school life as told through the eyes of an overweight and bullied 9th grader named Jimmy Winterpock. Other recent credits for Winn as a director include Last Bullet, a narrative short depicting two Vietnam soldiers caught in a life or death situation where a anguished decision decides which friend will live. Accepted into many festivals (Atlanta, Macon, Washington D.C., and others), Winn’s efforts won accolades for the movie and for himself (Finalist awards, Winner of Best Short, and Best Director).

After completion of The Fat Boy Chronicles, Winn anticipates moving into pre-production for The Treasure of the Four Lions, the story of three kids helped by Civil War ghosts to find the lost Confederate Gold. Presently co-owner of Tin Roof Films in Atlanta, award-winning filmmaker Jason M. Winn began his career in the advertising world. After receiving his degree in Mass Communications from the University of West Georgia, he joined the team at Mind’s Eye Media in Atlanta, Georgia. While at Mind’s Eye, Jason lent his creative talent to numerous projects, including producing and directing an interactive CD-ROM for the Georgia Youth Science Technology Center.

From Atlanta, Jason relocated to Savannah, Georgia, where he collaborated with Creative Loafing, generating promotional marketing campaigns for local businesses. During his time at the publication, he was responsible for writing, producing, and directing television advertisements. Impressed with his innovative marketing strategies and creative writing, Adventure Radio Group hired Jason to generate advertising campaigns for such regional clients as Miller, Red-Bull, Captain Morgan, and Harley Davidson. Additionally, Jason was instrumental in producing several live concert events with national acts including Nickel Back, Saliva, and Pete Yorn.

Intent upon focusing on the directorial aspect of his career, Jason moved to Orlando, Florida. While in Orlando, Jason joined forces with PBS to produce and direct several segments for the show, New Florida. He also expanded his production and directorial credits into the music world via Nashville. He created music videos for Wilderness Records and completed several short films. In 2006, Jason teamed up with fellow Georgian Dave Edgerly to write the script Industrial Evil. The script became a hit, and in the spring of 2006, Jason and Dave signed on with production company Bruno White to make Industrial Evil into a feature film. Since signing on for that project, Jason’s career as a director has soared. He has produced/directed a pilot for Turner Television along with a national ad campaign featuring NBA greats Steve Nash, Carmelo Anthony and basketball legend Bobby Knight.

In addition to his directing credits, Jason co-authored the screenplay for the novel Micah’s Child and consulted on the story for Treasure of the Four Lions. In giving back to his community, Jason has worked with partners/screenwriters Diane Lang and Michael Buchanan to teach film classes in Atlanta high schools.
