Michael David Buchanan | Partner
Michael David Buchanan, born in Nurnberg, Germany, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, presently lives in Alpharetta. He attended Georgia Tech and Georgia State University where he received a Masters in mathematics. His interests include diving for artifacts and fossils in rivers of the Southeast, reef diving in the Caribbean and photography. A high school and college teacher for over thirty years, and a high school basketball coach for nineteen years, Michael Buchanan has been recognized for his creative teaching style; both USA Today and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution have featured Buchanan in their publications. For eight years, he organized adventure trips for students to Eleuthera in the Bahamas, the jungles of Costa Rica and the reefs of Honduras. He is a frequent speaker at nearby schools on the topics of writing and diving.
Mary Diane Lang | Partner
Mary Diane Lang, born and raised in the German and Irish culture of Cincinnati, attended local Catholic schools before continuing her education at the University of Cincinnati, where she received a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Education. She also attended the Queen Elizabeth College in London, England, and studied Mortimer Adler’s philosophy of Paideia education at Xavier University. Lang has taught high school English and drama in ten different school systems (due to her husband’s job transfers) over a twenty-two year period, during which time her students nominated her twice for Teacher of the Year (Ohio and Atlanta public schools), voted her Star Teacher (Atlanta public schools), invited her to be the key speaker at their graduation, and nominated her several times for Who’s Who of American Teachers. Over the years Lang has directed high school and middle school plays, and ventured to exotic places with student groups. These trips have ranged from scuba diving in the Caribbean to hiking through the rain forests of Costa Rica. She has been a certified scuba diver and amateur archaeologist since she met Michael Buchanan.
Keith Washington | Partner
Mr. Washington is a private investor and entrepreneur. He has been involved in the start-up of a number of businesses including Flo Healthcare, an information technology business located in Atlanta, Georgia which was sold to Emerson in 2006. Prior to Flo Healthcare, Mr. Washington served as General Manager of Healthcare Solutions for EMS Technologies, where he led a management buyout of the business to form Flo Healthcare. Mr. Washington earned a BS in Chemistry from the University of Georgia and an MBA from Georgia State University. He is a member of the Technology Association of Georgia, Technology Executives Roundtable, and has worked in youth theater, family ministry and workplace ministry as a volunteer, small group leader, and as a board member. Mr. Washington lives in the Atlanta area with his wife Carol, who has been an active volunteer in youth theater and school performances for many years. The Washington’s have 3 children, Kelly, Bryan, and John, who have appeared in many theater productions in the Atlanta area as performers and crew members.
Jason M. Winn | Partner
Jason Winn is director for The Fat Boy Chronicles, a movie adapted from a teen novel now in bookstores. The story is a heartwarming, funny, and sometimes heartbreaking, realistic view of high school life as told through the eyes of an overweight and bullied 9th grader named Jimmy Winterpock. Other recent credits for Winn as a director include Last Bullet, a narrative short depicting two Vietnam soldiers caught in a life or death situation where a anguished decision decides which friend will live. Accepted into many festivals (Atlanta, Macon, Washington D.C., and others), Winn’s efforts won accolades for the movie and for himself (Finalist awards, Winner of Best Short, and Best Director).
